I've been running a poetry group here in Lewes for a year now. We took a summer break and made an amicable agreement with our previous venue, both sides agreeing that it had been great but it was time to move on. We now have a home in the rather smart new coffee house, just round the corner form my house and called, accurately enough, The Coffee House. Thanks to owner Michael Temple for allowing us to meet there. The group is called First Wednesday Writers and we meet on the first Wednesday of every month. Wednesday, 2nd October, marks the beginning of our new term so, if you like poetry, write poetry or just want to find out if you like poetry and you can get to Lewes, we'd love to see you.
I'm trying to fit my poetry in around my fiction writing. I'm hoping to finish the second draft of my new novel before Christmas and I'm getting ready for the imminent publication (31st October 2013) of my first novel, Stephen Dearsley's Summer Of Love, the story of a young fogey living in Brighton in 1967 who has a lot to learn when the flowering hippie counter culture changes him and the world around him.
